Telecom Coordinators help to ensure all members of their department have has access to OIT’s telecom and network services and equipment provided by Telecommunication Systems (TS). Telecom Coordinators have Your Telecom Coordinator can request services for your department, and has the fiscal authority to initiate and approve department expenditures . Requests placed with TS will that create one-time, recurring, and or usage charges on University accounts.

Telecom Coordinators can request all telecommunication services through the Telecom Automated Ordering System (TAOS). To access TAOS, go to taos.tel.pdx.edu.

Become a Telecom Coordinator

To become a Telecom Coordinator, download and print the TAOS Access form (PDF). Complete the form and have it signed by the proper authority. Send the completed form to TS using one of the following methods:

This form will enable us to grant access to TAOS (Telecom Automated Order System), the system TS uses to process service requests and orders. Please note it may take up to 15 business days after receipt of your request to have TAOS access granted. We also recommend that you call us to schedule training, if you have not performed these duties before or you are a new TAOS user.

Contact your department’s Telecom Coordinator to request other telecommunication services. Your Telecom Coordinator will use the PSU Telecom and Networking Request form to submit requests on your behalf. (This is a replacement of the TAOS system formerly used at PSU.)

Become a Telecom Coordinator

While most departments designate one staff member to be their Telecom Coordinator, some groups designate a backup for when their primary Telecom Coordinator goes on vacation or is not available.

Check the List of Telecom Coordinators to see if someone in your department is already designated before attempting to become a Telecom Coordinator for your group. If you would like to have a backup coordinator, state the business need for a secondary coordinator in the notes field of the form

To become a Telecom Coordinator, send an email to help-tdc@pdx.edu including the following information:

  • Name of your department head
  • Your department’s index codes

It may take up to 15 business days after receipt of your request to have access granted. We recommend that you request a training session with us if you haven't performed these duties before.
