If your computer has malware, PSU’s wireless (Wi-Fi) network can detect it and block your device from accessing campus Wi-Fi. The virus will need to be removed from your computer before the Wi-Fi block can be removed.
PSU-Owned Computers
If a PSU-owned computer has been blocked from using PSU Wi-Fi due to a virus, contact the OIT Help Desk for assistance.
Personal Computers
You will need remove the virus yourself or pay a repair shop to remove it. Once this is done, bring your computer to the OIT Help Desk for verification to have the block lifted.
Note |
---|
To remove the virus from a computer, the hard drive where Windows is installed, usually C drive, will need to be formatted and the Windows will need to be reinstalled. Simply reinstalling Windows over top of an existing installation, without performing a format, will not remove the virus. |
