Inclusive Access Classroom (IAC) equip instructors with the tools to capture the in-person classroom experience and offer digital access for remote or asynchronous learning. Cameras and microphones cover the classroom, while remote participants are able to be seen and heard in the physical classroom. Zoom Whiteboard is available to use from the podium touchscreen for more interactive, digital teaching experiences. These features offer flexibility for live, remote, and asynchronous attendance.

This guide is intended to provide information specific to Zoom Rooms in IACs. For more detailed instructions on using Zoom Rooms, please refer to the Zoom Room Guide on the AV Technology Resources page.

We recommend that instructors familiarize themselves with the IAC technology before the first day of teaching by reviewing this guide and practicing with hands-on experience in a room.

  • To use AV in an IAC classroom, select the System ON button located on the Extron touch panel.

  • Select the desired Projector Input (PC, DOC CAM, HDMI, VGA)

    • Note: If using Zoom, select the Zoom button to mirror the Zoom touch screen to the projector. The desired source input (PC, DOC CAM, HDMI, VGA) can still be selected.

  • Always remember to select System Off and confirm Power Down when finished using the system.

Camera Adjustments

The mounted camera can be repositioned to focus on any part of the classroom. Choose a preset to focus on a predetermined location, or select Camera Controls for full pan-tilt-zoom functionality.

IAC rooms are equipped with a step mat to automate camera movement. When on, the camera will focus on the step mat location when pressure is applied (ie standing or sitting on it), and will return to a wider front-of-room angle when pressure is released. Toggle this feature on or off using the “Step Mat Off” button on the Extron Control Panel.

Audio Adjustments

To adjust the master volume of the input source, use the Program volume adjustment button located on the Extron touch panel.

For Zoom meeting volume, whether it be the participants in a Zoom meeting or the audio content they share, use the volume slider on the Zoom touch screen.

Adjust the volume of the microphones to capture in-room sound for remote participants from Mic Controls (Streaming Audio). Change the room and/or Lapel lavalier (wireless) microphone volume(s) as needed.

The lapel lavalier microphone can also be used for in-room sound reinforcement by selecting the PA LOCK button on the Mic Controls page.

To adjust the volume of a Zoom meeting, whether the participant voices or shared audio content, open Mic Controls, select Zoom Audio, and use the buttons to increase, decrease, or mute the sound as needed.

Select GLOBAL MIC MUTE to mute all microphone inputs simultaneously. A flashing red mute button indicates that the source is muted.
