This article will provide instructions for using PSU RemoteApps on a Mac computer. You can use PSU RemoteApps through a web interface on your browser, or directly from your computer using the Microsoft Remote Desktop tool.

Prerequisites

  • macOS 10.9 or greater

Using RemoteApps with a Browser

You can use RemoteApps with any modern browser, including Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. To use RemoteApps with your browser, follow the steps below:


  • Open the file.
  • In the pop-up window that appears, enter your Odin username and password.



  • Select OK.


Adding RemoteApps with Microsoft Remote Desktop

You can use RemoteApps with the Microsoft Remote Desktop tool to achieve a more integrated desktop experience. To use RemoteApps with Microsoft Remote Desktop, follow the steps below:

  • Enter the following information in the Remote Resources window:
    • URL: https://apps.oit.pdx.edu/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx
    • User name: psu\username (where username is replaced with your Odin username)
    • Password: Your Odin password Note: If you change your Odin password in the future, you can open Remote Resources again to update your password.
  • Select the Refresh button.
  • A list of applications should appear in the Microsoft Remote Desktop window. Close the Remote Resources window.

Checking Your Version

If you already have the Microsoft Remote Desktop tool, ensure that you have upgraded to version 8.0 or above. Follow these steps to check what version you are using:

  1. Open the Applications folder in Finder.
  2. Launch Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  3. In the Apple menu, select Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  4. Select About Microsoft Remote Desktop. The version will be displayed near the top of the pop-up window that appears.
  5. If needed, follow steps 1 and 2 under "Adding RemoteApps with Microsoft Remote Desktop" above to install a newer version of the tool.

Using RemoteApps with Microsoft Remote Desktop

Once you're sure that you're using the correct version of RemoteApps and you've added the apps that you wish to use, follow the steps below to use an app:

  1. Open the Applications folder in Finder.
  2. Launch Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  3. Select the app you want to launch.
