Official PSU Department and Organization Websites
Official PSU department and organization websites are governed by OIT’s SiteDev team and managed by the site owners. Accessibility training is required before you can receive access to edit existing PSU sites. Please reference the Site Owner Listing to identify the correct individual to contact for site access. Anyone who needs site access must register for and complete the Digital Accessibility Basics training before site access can be granted. For support documentation, visit the pdx.edu Support Resources.
Student Organization Websites
Student organizations at PSU can use OrgSync to set up a simple website for their group. To sign up for a student organization website, contact Student Activities & Leadership Programs (SALP).Â
Websites for Individual Work, Projects, and Teams
Students, faculty, and staff who want to create a website to host individual work, project work, team information, or any other PSU-related content that does not qualify for an official PSU department or organization site can choose from the following options:
Google Sites at PSU
You can use Google Sites at PSU to build a basic website. Google Sites provide website templates, a simple-to-use interface, and do not require any knowledge of web design coding. For more information, visit Google Sites overview.
Personal Web Space at PSU
PSU offers space on its web servers to students, faculty, and staff. You can use this space immediately, without the need to request hosting services. For more information about using this service, visit Personal web space at PSU.
OIT Web Hosting
If your site is not an official PSU department or organization website and has requirements beyond what PSU personal web space can provide, you may qualify for Office of Information Technology (OIT) Web Hosting. View full details in the OIT Web Hosting Terms and Conditions. To request OIT Web Hosting, complete the Website hosting form on the PSU Help Center.Â
OIT Web Hosting is appropriate for those with minimal web hosting needs, who require more space or resources than Personal Web Space, such as the need to host a MySQL database (required to install a content management system such as WordPress).
OIT Managed Server
For those with web hosting needs that extend beyond what OIT Web Hosting can offer (such as the need to run Python or Java web applications), IT professionals at PSU may request an OIT Managed Server.
