Find Your Computer's Name

Follow the instructions below to locate your computer's name.

Windows 7

  1. Select the Start menu.

  2. If using a mouse Right-click on Computer, or use shift F10 on your keyboard to select Computer.

  3. Select Properties. Your computer's name will be listed under the heading "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings."

Windows 10

  1. If using a mouse Right-click the Start menu, or use shift F10 on your keyboard to select the Start menu.

  2. Select System. Your computer's name will be listed under the heading "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings."

Windows 11

  1. If using a mouse Right-click the Start menu, or use shift F10 on your keyboard to select the Start menu.

  2. Select System. Your computer’s name will be listed in the Device specifications section in the Device name row.

macOS

  1. Select Command (⌘)+Spacebar to bring up Spotlight Search.

  2. Enter terminal in the field and select Return. A Terminal window will open. Your computer's name will appear before your username on the last line.
