You can find your computer serial number by examining the external case, or by locating it in the operating system.

Most computers have their serial numbers on the outside of the case or, for some laptops, underneath the battery.
Mac
The serial number on a Mac laptop can be found on either the bottom of the case. It's inscribed at the end of the copyright data and above the regulatory warnings. A Mac serial number is an 11- or 12-character (depending model and year) alphanumeric code (ex: C02WK32QJ1WL).
Dell
A Dell's serial number is called a service tag. It can be found on a sticker on the top, back, or side of your system, or underneath the battery on some laptops. A Dell service tag is a 7-character, alphanumeric code (ex: 4F34DG1).
Lenovo
The serial number on a Lenovo laptop will be found on the bottom of the laptop or under the battery. It is a 7-character, hyphenated, alphanumeric code (ex:12-12AB3).

If you’re unable to locate the serial number on the case, you can also find your serial number in the computer's operating system.
macOS
Select the Apple Menu in the upper left hand corner of the Menu Bar.
Select About this Mac.
The serial number is displayed above the System Report button.
Windows
Press Win + R (open Run.)
Enter "cmd" and select OK.
Enter "wmic bios get serialnumber" into the command line window that appears.
