Casting on PSU Registered Wi-Fi Network
Casting refers to the ability to directly connect multiple devices owned by the same user. The PSU Registered Wi-Fi Network supports casting.
Supported Products and Technologies
PSU Registered Wi-Fi network supports Apple Airplay, Alexa, Chromecast, and any other technology that uses Multicast DNS (mDNS) for Wi-Fi device discovery and interconnectivity. This allows devices on the PSU Registered Wi-Fi Network that are registered to the same user to talk to each other.
Wi-Fi casting does not support:
Casting between devices registered to different users.
Casting between wireless and wired devices.
Casting between devices on other Wi-Fi networks such as PSU Secure, Eduroam, or PSU Guest.
Getting Started with Device Connections
For devices to communicate with each other, they must be registered in the Wi-Fi Device Registration section of oam.pdx.edu. You will need your device’s Media Access Control (MAC) address. For more information, please refer to PSU Registered Wi-Fi Network and Find a Media Access Control (MAC) Address.
