Blu-ray Players in Classroom AV Systems

Please note that Blu-ray players are being phased out in general pool classroom AV systems.

While some rooms may still have Blu-ray players, they are being gradually decommissioned and will not be replaced if broken. DVDs may still be played using the resident PC’s optical drive:

  • Insert the DVD in the resident PC’s optical drive.

  • Open VLC Media Player.

  • Select the PC as the source on the podium’s AV controls.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) recommend consulting with your department’s designated PSU Library liaison if you plan to show films in class. To find your liaison, please reference the PSU Library’s Staff Directory page. To request the digitization of visual media, submit a Request to Digitize Visual Media.

For more information regarding showing film in your classes, please reference the PSU Library’s resource on Using Film in Courses: Policy and Options.
