Cognos Overview
Cognos available at cognos.pdx.edu, is a reporting software and data warehouse solution used for reporting, strategic decision making, and historical data preservation. The data warehouse is updated nightly with Banner student, finance, and payroll information, as well as information from other enterprise systems. This service requires a VPN connection when connecting from off campus.

Levels of Access in Cognos
Four levels of access are available in Cognos: Campus, General, Student, and Other.
All PSU employees have Campus access.
Only those with General or Student access are able to view reports containing personally identifiable employee or student data.
Other access includes custom Department folders and restricted reports.
Request General, Student, or Other Access
Visit the Odin Account Manager at oam.pdx.edu.
Sign in using your Odin account credentials, and authenticate with Duo.
Select OAM Access Requests (OAR).
Select + New Access Request.
Select the Cognos checkbox, then select Next.
If you need access to Employee or Payroll Cognos reports, select General-HR Cognos Report Access.
If you need access to a Cognos Department folder, or special access in addition to General-HR or Student records, select Other Cognos Access and include a description in the Other Access comments field.
Select the Student Information Cognos Access checkbox.
Note: if you are a student employee, you will need to list the specific report name(s) you need to access for your job in the Other Student Information Access comments field.Select Next.
Review the terms of use, then select the checkbox(es) to confirm your consent.
Select Next.
In the Reason for needing access comments field, describe why you need access.
Select Submit. Your request will be routed to an approver for review.
