Access H and I Drives

To access your PSU H or I drives on a Mac, use the following directions.  If you are not connected to the Portland State network, before you do anything, you must connect to PSU’s Virtual Private Network (VPN).

  1. Open Finder by selecting it on the Dock. To go to the Finder without opening a window, select the desktop..

  2. Select the Go menu and select Connect to Server

  3. In the Server Address field of the Connect to Server window, type the address of the drive you want to access. A full list is below, in the Directory addresses section.

  4. Select Connect.

  5. In the dialog that appears, enter the following information:

    1. Workgroup/Domain: PSU (If you are connecting from off campus, macOS will not ask for a workgroup/domain.)

    2. Username: Your Odin account username (macOS will sometimes capitalize your username; if this happens, just clear the username box and retype it lower-case.)

    3. Password: Your Odin account password

  6. Select OK and an icon labeled for the mounted directory will appear on the desktop.

Map your H and I Drives

You can map your H or I drive to your home computer or laptop, allowing you to access files stored in these locations when you are not on campus. If you are not connected to the Portland State network, before you do anything, you must connect to PSU’s Virtual Private Network (VPN).

  1. Connect to the network drive using the instructions above.

  2. Open the Finder.

  3. Select Go > Computer.

  4. Locate the network drive you want to map.

  5. While holding down Option+Command, drag the network drive to your desktop.

This creates a permanent shortcut to the network drive on your desktop that functions both on and off campus. Keep in mind that if you're off campus, you must be logged into the VPN to access this drive.

Check your Usage

Once you've mapped your H drive to your computer, you can use the following steps to check your available free space.

  1. While pressing Control, select the drive.

  2. Select Get Info.
