Print in OIT Student General Access Computer Labs

The Student General Access Computer Labs' printing system should not be considered a print shop. It is provided to assist students with a limited amount of basic printing they need to do while attending Portland State University. Everyone should also be mindful of how any copyright law may apply when using this privilege.

All PSU registered students, employees, and affiliates are allocated printing credits quota each term. This quota does not carry over to subsequent academic terms, and resets on the Thursday prior to the first day of each term. Any student that goes over the term’s printing credit quota during the term will have a bill show up on their student account after this reset date. You are responsible for keeping track of your available credits. To learn how to check your credit quota, visit Check your print quota.

Non-Student Accounts

Affiliates/Employees currently have the privilege of printing in the Student General Access Labs using their term’s printing credit quota.

  • “Work related materials” should be printed on the employee’s department printing system and not in the Student General Access Labs.

    • Affiliates/Employees may be charged for printing “work related materials” on lab printers.

  • Affiliates/Employees are restricted to printing up to their term’s printing credit quota and can not exceed it/continue to print.

  • Non-student accounts are accounts with PSU affiliation that are held be individuals who are not currently enrolled students. Examples are PSU employees, emeritus faculty, and affiliate account holders.

  • If an affiliate or employee is also a student, the printing system will treat their account as a student’s and bill them for any excessive printing after the term is over, provided they are registered for classes during the term.

  • All accounts that are not held by registered students, affiliates, and/or employees will be disabled and restricted from printing in the Student General Access Labs.

Non-Registered Student Accounts

  • Printing in the Student General Access Labs is disabled for all terms in which a student is not actively registered for at least one class.

    • If, during a term, a student drops all active registrations their account will transfer to a non-registered student account status.

  • If, during a term, an individual registers for a class then their account will transfer to a Registered Student account status.

Registered Student Accounts

When a registered student account reaches their printing credit quota limit, they will still be able to print; and their student account will be billed at the end of the term for the additional printing.
